No. Our doctors do not direct bill insurance providers. Payment is due at the time of service and we accept Debit, Visa, Mastercard, or Cash. We will provide all required documentation so you can submit your claim directly to your provider for reimbursement.

Vision and ocular health conditions are not always accompanied by recognizable symptoms, and there is often an increased risk to the patient if timely treatment is not started. After your initial exam, your optometrist will schedule checkups at a frequency that meets your particular needs.

The minimum recommended frequency for those at low risk is:

• Infants and toddlers (birth to 24 months): By age 6 months
• Preschool (2 to 5 years): At age 3, and prior to entering elementary school
• School age (6 to 19 years): Annually
• Adults (20 to 64 years): Every one to two years
• Older adults (65+): Annually

High-risk factors that may require more frequent visits include: premature birth, mother's health during pregnancy, strabismus or congenital eye disorders, family history of glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension, visually demanding work or who face eye hazards, reading or learning disabilities in children, and systemic medications with ocular side effects.

A complete eye exam goes far beyond checking for 20/20 vision. You can expect:

• Case History: Questions about your health, medications, lifestyle, and any vision concerns
• External Eye Exam: Checking the area around the eye for abnormalities
• Internal Eye Exam: Using a slit lamp and ophthalmoscope to examine front to back, including signs of diabetes or hypertension
• Tonometry: Measuring fluid pressure inside the eye to screen for glaucoma
• Vision Tests: Visual acuity, eye movement, and peripheral vision assessments
• Complete Ocular Health Check: A thorough evaluation of the overall health of your eyes, front to back, to detect early signs of disease or abnormalities

All patients with Alberta Health Care coverage are covered for urgent eye care visits. Our optometrists can diagnose and treat: foreign body removal, blunt trauma, corneal abrasions, welder's flash, chemical splash, red eyes, flashes and floaters, double vision, and eye pain or light sensitivity Or other ocular or neurological issues that affects your eyes. If the condition requires further care, they will refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Yes, all our locations are inside Costco warehouses. On the day of your appointment, show your booking confirmation to Costco staff at the exit door to bypass the regular line. Note that our doctors are independent from Costco and the Optical department: as per College by-laws, our doctors do not share profit for glasses, contact lenses, or any other products sold by Costco.

Prescription rechecks are available for past patients within 90 days of their eye exam, and must be with the SAME DOCTOR. Please contact your local clinic directly to arrange this.

Yes. Contact lens fitting and eyeglasses services require a separate appointment with the Optical department, which is independent from your eye exam booking. Please contact them directly to schedule.

Anyone can get eye exams with our doctors. For contact lenses fitting, please schedule a separate appointment with the Optical staff. Our Doctors are Independents. Costco members may get a free contact lenses fitting for members only. For membership questions, please visit www.costco.ca

PD (pupillary distance) is a key measurement for eyeglasses dispensing, along with fitting height for multifocals and frame selection. It is not part of a standard eye exam and is only taken at the time of dispensing by the Optical department.

In person: Yes, reprints can be provided on the spot during your visit.

By email: To protect your health information under the Alberta Health Information Act, we require identity verification before releasing any records. Email info@drquan.ca with the following:

• Full name as spelled in your medical file
• Date of birth
• Date or Month, and location of your last eye exam
• Your clear express authorization that you want us to email your medical data back to you (example: "I authorize Dr. Quan & Associates to email my RX/records to this email address")

We will reply with the requested information once your identity is confirmed.
